UTM is pleased to announce the successful of The 15th South East Asian Technical University Consortium (SEATUC) Symposium 2021. This symposium is hosted by Institut Teknologi Bandung and co-hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia on 25-26 February 2021.
The SEATUC fosters international collaboration and comprehensive exchange programs. Members include Shibaura Institute of Technology (Japan), King Mongkut University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam), Suranaree University of Technology (Thailand), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam) and Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia).
The first Keynote Speaker was Professor Jaka Sembiring, Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs, Institut Teknologi Bandung presented about “Nurturing Student’s Soft Skills Through Partnerships and Collaboration”. The second Keynote Speaker, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, Vice Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, delivered a speech about “Perspectives on Innovation and Commercialization of R&D Products through University-Industry Collaboration” on the first day of SEATUC2021.

On the same day, UTM Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail attended the Presidential Meeting along with Pro-Vice Chancellor (International), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ismid Md Said which presented on “Leveraging on Strategic Networks for Shared Prosperity: UTM’s Experience With SEATUC”. Prof. Sr. Dr. Hishamuddin Mohd Ali, Dean of Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying UTM as General Co-Chair of SEATUC2022 made an announcement speech for the 16th SEATUC Symposium that will be hosted by UTM in 2022. UTM hosted SEATUC symposiums on 2009 and 2014 previously.

UTM was involved in 5 session chairs during SEATUC2021. On 25 February 2021, the session chairs were Prof. Ir. Dr. Shuhaimi Mansor for Robotics and Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Ariff Baharudin for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Information and Communication Technology, Assoc. Prof. Sr. Ts. Dr. Noorsidi Aizuddin Mat Noor for Architecture, Urban Planning and Design and Dr. Nurriza binti Ab Latif for Bioscience, Biological Engineering and Science. On the second day, the session chair was Dr. Mohamad Hafis Izran Ishak for Robotics and Mechanical Engineering.
