IMPORTANT NOTE:

Married students MUST enter Malaysia as a single traveler.
The Immigration Department will only accept the dependent application after completion of student (principle) pass.  Please contact us for inquiries.


WHO IS DEPENDENT?

 Wife/Husband (spouse) with children (below 17 years old) OR Mother OR Father.
(Undergraduate student is NOT allowed to bring dependent)

Sibling/Family in Law is NOT ALLOWED to apply for dependent pass

NOTE:

  1. Student from Nigeria &  Afghanistan are required to apply Dependent VAL from Immigration Department prior travelling to Malaysia for conversion to Dependent Pass (list of country will change from time to time)
  2. For a new  born baby in Malaysia, please apply Dependent Visa and make Passport at your embassy within 3 months from date of birth.  New born baby are required to attend at Immigration Ofice to make Special Pass before apply a dependent pass.
  3. Immigration Department will charge Journey Perform (JP) fee MYR506 – RM550 for each Dependent.
  4. The principle (student) must renew the student pass before dependent can submit for renewal.
  5.  The date of expiring of dependent pass cannot exceed expiry date of principle (i.e. if student pass expiry on 22 February 2019, the dependent pass will expired  earlier or on same date of principle).

 


DO NOT DO THIS!

  • Late submission of dependent passport near to the expiry date of the Social/Special Pass which you obtained from Immigration in your passport upon arrival.
  • Please  submit your passport/ document to UTM International for Dependent Pass endorsement within 7 days arrival in Malaysia to avoid paying additional charges. Immigration Department may not endorse dependent pass if late submission. Immigration may request your dependent to return to home country.                                                                                 REMINDER!
    Immigration Department may not endorse dependent pass if late submission of  the document after arriving in Malaysia. If Immigration reject your dependent pass application, your family  are required exit Malaysia and reapply.

 

a. I’M A NEW POSTGRADUATE STUDENT. CAN I BRING MY SPOUSE AND CHILDREN TO APPLY DEPENDENT PASS ?

NO. Student MUST travel to Malaysia as single traveler. You can apply Dependent Pass after student pass is issue to the student (Principle). Your dependent may overstay while waiting for student pass process is complete.  Overstaying is an offence in Malaysian Law. Immigration Department will impose a penalty for overstay in Malaysia or  you may be blacklisted and deported back to your home country. In some case, you are prohibited to enter Malaysia for a period of time.

b. DO I NEED TO APPLY VAL FOR MY DEPENDENT BEFORE COME TO MALAYSIA?

For certain countries, Immigration Malaysia required student to apply for VAL for Dependent before they travel to Malaysia (update: Currently Nigeria & Afghanistan required VAL for Dependent. List of countries will update from time to time)

c. MY BABY BORN IN MALAYSIA. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Please register your baby to National Registration Department and apply passport for the baby  at your embassy within 3 month.Then, submit document (refer dependent checklist)  for Dependent Pass/ Special Pass. Refer to UTM International for details on required documents for Special Pass

d. HOW MUCH COST FOR NEW DEPENDENT PASS APPLICATION ?

Estimation RM770-RM850 (not including Dependent Insurance) The fee inclusive Journey Perform, 1 year Pass, Stamping, Special Pass and UTM Admin fee
