DAAD-RISE-programme (Research Internships in Science and Engineering)
RISE is a summer internship program for undergraduate students from the United States, Canada and the UK in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. RISE offers unique opportunities for Bachelor students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of 2 to 3 months during the summer. RISE interns are matched with doctoral students whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. The working language will be English. All scholarship holders receive stipends from the DAAD to help cover living expenses, while partner universities & research institutes provide housing assistance.
After the very successful third round of RISE worldwide – in which DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service) supported over 250 projects by funding undergraduate German students working as research assistants – the program is returning in 2014.

Within this program, research groups, laboratories and doctoral students can apply to host a motivated and well-qualified student from Germany as research intern in their proposed project. The German intern will assist in research and lab work. The students with academic training in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, medicine, or a closely related field, receive a DAAD scholarship to help cover living expenses and travel costs (for details see www.daad.de/rise-programs).
Submission of project proposals is possible starting from October 7, 2013 through November 24, 2013.
Terms of the internship: 6 weeks to 3 months; earliest starting date: June 1, 2014
