UTM Delegates Joined the 2nd Joint Workshop for Global Engineers in Asia in Ritsumeikan University, Japan
Ritsumeikan University, 24-29th July- Four universities; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT, Thailand), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS, Indonesia) and hosting university, Ritsumeikan University (RU, Japan) convened again for the 2nd Joint Workshop for Global Engineers in Asia (JWGEA), a partnership that strives to recognize and share the latest findings in engineering and science fields in a global environment. The international office of the respective university coordinates the partnership.
Representing the UTM delegation were 9 staff and 10 graduate students who presented their work in the Joint Workshop. Other highlights of the 6-day event were industrial visits to Lake Wibawa Sewage Treatment System and Nishijin Textile center. The delegates also experienced Japanese culture in their visits to Nijo Castle and Kyoto city.
Dr. Kenichi Kasahara, Dean of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering of Ritsumeikan University, expressed his hopes of the relationship between the four universities to grow stronger and commended the initiative as an effective way to enhance the delegates’ global learning experience.
UTM Candidate won the 3MT Competition
One of the doctoral students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UTM, Mr Jaysuman Pusppanathan, has made UTM proud by winning the First Price of the 3MT (3-minute thesis) Competition during the event.
