About the Erasmus+ Programme
Erasmus+ is the EU Programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sports in Europe. These fields are the key areas that support citizens in their personal and professional development. The Erasmus+ programme is managed by the European Commission (the EU’s executive body), the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), a series of National Agencies in Programme countries, and a series of National Offices in some partner countries. Erasmus+ has an estimated budget of €26.2 billion.
The current programme which is the 2021-2027 programme strongly focuses on social inclusion, green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life. Erasmus+ offers a wide range of options for students and academic and technical staff to study or do internships abroad, give lectures, professional development, and capacity building and create cooperation networks between higher education institutions of EU member states and other countries.
Erasmus+ activities consist of:-
- International Credit Mobility (ICM)
- Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM)
- Capacity-building for Higher Education (CBHE)
- Jean Monnet Activities
Objectives
For the International Credit Mobility (ICM), the main objectives are:
- Promote learning mobility of individuals and groups, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion and equity, excellence, creativity and innovation at the level of organisations and policies in the field of education and training.
- Promote non-formal and informal learning mobility and active participation among young people, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity and innovation at the level of organisations and policies in the field of youth
- Promote learning mobility of sports staff, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity and innovation at the level of sports organisations and sports policies.
As UTM is considered a partner university, we must first establish a partnership with European Union Higher Institutions. Upon receiving the IIA, which provides framework conditions for the student and staff mobilities funded by the Erasmus+ programme, we will prepare the accompanying working papers to get the IIA signed.
It is our national policy for all international agreements to be signed by the University’s Board of Directors. Hence, it will be circulated in three levels of meetings, which can take up to 3 months* to get signed. Upon a signed IIA, we will start open for mobility calls. In this phase, we will specify the mobility either for students, academicians, or technical staff. The call of application will be open for a duration of time.
The candidate will be selected by a panel of reviewers and all applications will be notified of the result. Unsuccessful applicants can appeal by email to alliances@utm.my before the due date. The successful applicant will then get ready for the mobility program.
