Beginning September 2013 he was appointed as Vice-Chancellor\/President of the Universiti. Prior to the present appointment he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) (20011-2013) and Director, Office of Asset and Development (2008-2011), and one of his major tasks was to manage University\u2019s major development projects costing about RM 1 billion. He obtained his Ph.D in Structural Engineering from the University of Birmingham, Master of Science (Bridge Engineering) from the University of Surrey, and Bachelor of Science (Civil Eng) from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineer Malaysia. He is a member of various professional bodies such as Asian Concrete Forum, American Concrete Institute (KL Chapter) and Institution of Engineers Malaysia. His area of expertise includes structural assessment, reinforced and prestressed concrete. His latest research is investigating innovative technique in improving the ductility of high strength concrete. MARK SPEARING<\/strong><br \/>Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), Southampton University, United Kingdom<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>BIOGRAPHY &#8211; <\/strong>His portfolio includes international relationships in research and education, internationalisation of the curriculum and the campus, and the recruitment of international students. He has been closely involved in the University\u2019s spin out and other commercialisation activities. Previously Professor Spearing was Head of School and Professor of Engineering Materials in the School of Engineering Sciences at the University of Southampton. From 1994-2004, he was a Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MIT he was Head of the Materials and Structures Division and Director of the Technology Laboratory for Advanced Composites. His technical interests include structural composites and Microelectromechanical Systems. Spearing is a past chairman of the AIAA Materials Technical Committee, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and an Associate Fellow of AIAA, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and of the Materials Research Society. He was a deputy editor of ActaMaterialia from1996-2003 and he is an editor of the ASME\/IEEE Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems and European Editor of The Journal of Composite Materials. He served as a visiting professor at the University of Georgia and Portland State University in the U.S.His various other roles include: co-president of the Gyeonggi Province Association of Citizens\u2019 Coalition for Economic Justice, the President of Ansan Citizen\u2019s Community for New Education (1998), executive director and editorial writer of the Korean Association of NGO Studies (2002-2006), editorial board member of academic journals of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, and president of Korean Association for Housing Policy Studies(2007). MICHAEL ADEWUMI<\/strong><br \/>Vice-Provost (Global), Pennsylvania State University, USA<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>BIOGRAPHY &#8211; <\/strong>Michael A. Adewumi, PhD is the Vice Provost for Global Programs at Penn State and Professor of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. As vice provost for Global Programs, Vice Provost Adewumi provides leadership for all Penn State\u2019s global engagements, ranging from hosting thousands of students from more than 100 countries, sending thousands of Penn State students to more than 200 study abroad programs overseas and building strategic partnerships with institutions around the world. Prior to assuming this position in October 2007, Professor Adewumi was the Executive Director of AESEDA. The Alliance for Earth Sciences, Engineering and Development in Africa (AESEDA), is a major international multidisciplinary partnership among Penn State University, a select group of African Universities, select Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the US and public and private-sector organizations. The mission of AESEDA is to develop and foster interdisciplinary framework for integrating research, education and outreach aimed at harnessing georesources for sustainable livelihoods in Africa.Dr. Adewumi is Professor and Quentin E. and Louise L. Wood University Endowed Fellow in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at Penn State University. He holds a BS (1st Class Honors) degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, MS and PhD degrees in Gas Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Prior to joining Penn State in 1985, Dr. Adewumi was a research fellow at the world-renowned Institute of Gas Technology (IGT) in Chicago. He also had prior experience working in the oil industry.Professor Michael Adewumi is an internationally known expert in the areas of natural gas engineering, phase behavior and multiphase fluid dynamics and has published widely in these areas, authoring and\/or co-authoring more than 100 technical articles. His research projects have been funded by a wide variety of agencies including National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Engineering Foundation, Multinational oil and gas companies as well as independents. He has consulted for major multinational oil companies, gas companies, UNDP, Gas Research Institute in Chicago, etc. Under his supervision, more than 40 PhD and MS candidates completed their degrees at Penn State. He has also supervised 10 post-doctoral research associates and research associates. In addition, he has taught short courses for multinational oil companies around the world.Dr. Adewumi previously held a number of administrative and governance positions at Penn State including serving as Chair of the Petroleum &amp; Natural Gas Engineering graduate program, the on-line Master of Engineering Program in Oil and Gas Engineering Management. In addition, Dr. Adewumi has served Penn State University as a member and chair of committees at all levels (Departmental, College and University). These include Promotion and Tenure Committees and many important Search Committees. He served for many years as an elected member of the University\u2019s Graduate Council. He served as Chair of the Graduate Council committee on Programs and Courses, which reviews and evaluates all new and revised graduate programs.In 2007, Dr. Adewumi served as the inaugural UNESCO Chair in Georesources Management at the University of Ibadan, a partnership initiative among UNESCO, Penn State University, University of Ibadan and University of Cape Town. DUCK HO-LIM<\/strong>\r\nPresident of Hanyang University, Korea\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>BIOGRAPHY - <\/strong>Dr. Duck-Ho Lim attended Hanyang University, Korea (1975-1982) majoring in Economics, and continued his studies at Rice University, the US.He began his career at Hanyang (1988), eventually becoming president (2011). He served as a visiting professor at the University of Georgia and Portland State University in the U.S.His various other roles include: co-president of the Gyeonggi Province Association of Citizens\u2019 Coalition for Economic Justice, the President of Ansan Citizen\u2019s Community for New Education (1998), executive director and editorial writer of the Korean Association of NGO Studies (2002-2006), editorial board member of academic journals of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, and president of Korean Association for Housing Policy Studies(2007). Since 2009, he has been an advisor for the Korean Association for Housing Policy Studies.His national and public activities include: reviewer for the Housing Provision System, and the Ministry of Construction and Transportation (2004), the Bank of Korea advisory professor (2007-2010), president-designated member of SH Corporation (2009), and Ansan Urban Development Corporation (2010).He was also the MC of TV programs \u2018Hanbit Focus on Current Issue\u2019 (1999-2001) and \u2018Kyungin Focus on Policy\u2019 (2002-2003), staff writer of \u2018Comments on Current Economics\u2019 of the Kyeongin Daily Newspaper (2006-2007), and advisor for Eugene Investment &amp; Securities Company (2004-2009). MICHAEL ADEWUMI<\/strong>\r\nVice-Provost (Global), Pennsylvania State University, USA\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>BIOGRAPHY - <\/strong>Michael A. Adewumi, PhD is the Vice Provost for Global Programs at Penn State and Professor of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. As vice provost for Global Programs, Vice Provost Adewumi provides leadership for all Penn State\u2019s global engagements, ranging from hosting thousands of students from more than 100 countries, sending thousands of Penn State students to more than 200 study abroad programs overseas and building strategic partnerships with institutions around the world. Prior to assuming this position in October 2007, Professor Adewumi was the Executive Director of AESEDA. The Alliance for Earth Sciences, Engineering and Development in Africa (AESEDA), is a major international multidisciplinary partnership among Penn State University, a select group of African Universities, select Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the US and public and private-sector organizations. The mission of AESEDA is to develop and foster interdisciplinary framework for integrating research, education and outreach aimed at harnessing georesources for sustainable livelihoods in Africa.Dr. Adewumi is Professor and Quentin E. and Louise L. Wood University Endowed Fellow in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at Penn State University. He holds a BS (1st Class Honors) degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, MS and PhD degrees in Gas Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Prior to joining Penn State in 1985, Dr. Adewumi was a research fellow at the world-renowned Institute of Gas Technology (IGT) in Chicago. He also had prior experience working in the oil industry.Professor Michael Adewumi is an internationally known expert in the areas of natural gas engineering, phase behavior and multiphase fluid dynamics and has published widely in these areas, authoring and\/or co-authoring more than 100 technical articles. His research projects have been funded by a wide variety of agencies including National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Engineering Foundation, Multinational oil and gas companies as well as independents. He has consulted for major multinational oil companies, gas companies, UNDP, Gas Research Institute in Chicago, etc. Under his supervision, more than 40 PhD and MS candidates completed their degrees at Penn State. He has also supervised 10 post-doctoral research associates and research associates. In addition, he has taught short courses for multinational oil companies around the world.Dr. Adewumi previously held a number of administrative and governance positions at Penn State including serving as Chair of the Petroleum &amp; Natural Gas Engineering graduate program, the on-line Master of Engineering Program in Oil and Gas Engineering Management. In addition, Dr. Adewumi has served Penn State University as a member and chair of committees at all levels (Departmental, College and University). These include Promotion and Tenure Committees and many important Search Committees. He served for many years as an elected member of the University\u2019s Graduate Council. He served as Chair of the Graduate Council committee on Programs and Courses, which reviews and evaluates all new and revised graduate programs.In 2007, Dr. Adewumi served as the inaugural UNESCO Chair in Georesources Management at the University of Ibadan, a partnership initiative among UNESCO, Penn State University, University of Ibadan and University of Cape Town.
