Library

The university’s library, UTM Library has extensive range of resources and services. The library also has a branch at the UTM City Campus, Kuala Lumpur and also branches at several faculties, learning centres and Centres of Excellence. The library is a four-storey building with a seating capacity of 3,422 and a collection of nearly half a million volumes. It has a total of 179 staff. The library supports the university’s teaching, learning, research, consultancy and publication activities. The university library is ISO 9000:2000-certified-library. It houses more than 600,000 reading materials covering a vast field of knowledge and specialization. The reference items include books, periodicals, AV materials, CD-ROM and microfiche, and they are available for long- term, short-term and in-house use.

Computer Laboratories

These laboratories provide students with the state-of-the-art technology and software, using Windows-based computers. All students have access to the Internet and e-mail.

Science Laboratories

The science laboratories are fully equipped with the latest gadgets to provide students with comprehensive tools and materials necessary to perform a variety of exercises and experiments in engineering and technological fields.

Lecture Halls and Classrooms

Lecture halls and classrooms are air-conditioned and well equipped with electronic teaching devices, including notebooks, LCD projectors, overhead projectors and sound systems.

Sports Facilities

The indoor sports facilities include an Olympic size swimming pool, squash and badminton courts and a gymnasium, whilst the outdoor facilities includes a new stadium, volleyball, netball, basketball and tennis courts, as well as full-sized fields for soccer, rugby and cricket. In addition, the university also provides a varied array of clubs and societies ranging from cultural to recreational to suit the varied interests of the students.

Swimming Pool

Situated on the west side of campus – UTM Swimming Pool is a 25 meter, 8 lane pool with a 12′ deep diving well. We have a broad range of activities to suit most needs. These include public swims, swimming lessons, aquarobics, over 50′s sessions, adult and child and party hire etc.

Student Accommodation

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Skudai Campus provides 11 residential colleges that can accommodate up to 15,958 students in one academic session. These colleges are located at two residential areas namely the inner ring and the outer ring.

The former comprises of Kolej Rahman Putra (KRP), Kolej Tun Fatimah (KTF), Kolej Tun Razak Tun Razak (KTR), Kolej Tun Hussein Onn (KTHO), Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail (KTDI) and Kolej Tuanku Canselor (KTC); whereas the latter comprises of Kolej Perdana, Kolej 9 & 10, Kolej Datin Sri Endon (KDSE), Kolej Tun Ghafar Baba (KTGB) and Kolej Dato’ Onn Jaafar (KDOJ).The residential colleges are organized into two types of housing – scattered housing and multi – storied housing.

In addition, Students Affairs Office also provides 301 housing units for students who bring along their spouse and children to stay with them throughout their studies in UTM. There are two types of housing available for the students. One of which is the apartment type (a – two – room and a – three – room apartment) and the other is the town house with two rooms. Each housing unit is furnished with basic facilities such as furniture and refrigerator for the students’ convenience.
