Background: A 2-week Summer School Programme on “Biodiversity EcoAqua Summer School” (BESS) is going to be organised by University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), together with Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). BESS is design for the participants to have an awesome experience in discovering environment, wild life ecosystem, local community, heritage and and a range of cultural awareness. Interesting trips such as Malay Cultural Village, Sungai Melayu Malay Kampung Trail in Johor Bahru, and Kenyir Lake which is the biggest manufactured man-made lake in Southeast Asia, Pasar Payang (The Central Market), Masjid Abidin -“The White Mosque” (the most beautiful Terengganu’s old state royal mosque), are among the most popular tourist spots in Kuala Terengganu are all included.
Details
Objectives: Participants will be also enjoying an experience the century old artifacts and artworks of rich and colourful heritage at Terengganu State Museum and “The Land Of Palaces” or better known as Terrapuri (“Terra” is land in Latin & “Puri” is palaces in Sanskrit), a project restoring 29 antique Malay houses aged between 150-200 years old. Besides, participants will have the opportunity to explore Bidong Island which nursed itself into a glorious heaven for marine life. Man-made structures erected at Heritage Row area have now become homes and shelters to colorful marine life, adding to the amazing array of biodiversity in these waters. Participants will also have the golden opportunity to experience ‘close encounter’ with various species of fishes including the beautiful red kelah gently biting at their feet while swimming in the magnificent Kelah Sanctuary.
Fees: USD 950 per participant inclusive of cost materials, airport pick-up, accommodation, transportation, excursions, and meals during program. (subject to changes)
